The Pemberton Memorial Garden was refurbished in 2004 by the Pemberton Community Association after receiving a £2400 grant from Awards For All. The garden was designed by St John the Divine school children. Each of the children's design is included in the design of the Memorial Garden. The garden was officially reopened in November 2009 by the Mayor of Wigan, Cllr Eunice Smethurst.
